Yogita Chai now uses Fairtrade Certified, NASAA Certified Organic and Certified Pure Ceylon Tea. We have always prided ourselves on supplying a delicious Masala Chai using 100% certified organic ingredients, but this now allows us and you to further support our global community.
This delicious tea is a single origin, bio-dynamic, organic Ceylon Black Tea from the Idulgashinna Organic Bio-tea Estate in Sri Lanka.
Located in Uva, one of Sri Lanka’s high-quality, high-grown tea regions, offering cool, slow ripening conditions to produce this Ceylon organic black tea of renowned quality. Since 1999 they have also been applying Rudolf Steiner’s biodynamic agriculture practices.
In 1987 Idulgashinna became the first certified organic tea garden in the world, in 1992 it began a social development project involving workers in all aspects of the management of the estate. The tea estate gained Fairtrade certification in 2003 and has been allocating funds back into their local community, e.g. renovating the school, buying computers for the classrooms, improving the local houses and providing easier access to health care just to name a few.
We get the best flavour for our Yogita Masala Organic Chai using a Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) grade, with a well twisted curly leaf.
